Magic Mushroom Liquid Culture Syringes — Cloud920 Isolated Genetics

Magic mushroom liquid culture syringes contain active, living mycelium — not dormant spores. Colonisation starts the moment you inoculate: no germination phase, no waiting. The real difference is what's inside. Our Cloud920 cultures are isolated single-strain genetics, not a genetic lottery, so you know exactly what you're getting every single time. 29 strains across 8 species — Psilocybe cubensis classics, exotic Psilocybe natalensis and mexicana, Panaeolus cyanescens, plus Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus) and Reishi (Ganoderma lingzhi) — all freshly tapped to order and shipped from Amsterdam since 2009.

What is a liquid culture syringe?

A liquid culture syringe contains active mushroom mycelium suspended in a sterile nutrient solution. Unlike spore syringes — where spores first need to germinate before mycelium develops — liquid culture already contains living, growing mycelium that is ready to colonise your substrate immediately after inoculation. Colonisation typically takes 5–10 days with liquid culture, versus 2–4 weeks with spore syringes. Want to understand the full biology? Read our guide What is Liquid Culture and why use it? and Mycelium Explained.

The real advantage: isolated genetics

Speed is only part of the story. The bigger advantage of a quality liquid culture is what's actually in it: a single isolated genetic line — not a mix of random spores. When you inoculate with a multi-spore syringe, you are essentially rolling the dice. Each spore carries different genetics. The result is variation: unpredictable colonisation speed, unpredictable yields, unpredictable characteristics. With an isolated liquid culture, that variation is eliminated. You are working with a cloned, genetically uniform culture — the same traits, the same behaviour, every single run. This is exactly why commercial mushroom farms work exclusively with liquid cultures, not spore syringes.

  • Isolated genetics: Each Cloud920 culture is a single isolated strain — not a multi-spore mix with random genetic outcomes
  • Consistent results: Same colonisation speed, same growth behaviour, same characteristics — run after run
  • Faster colonisation: Active mycelium starts working immediately — 5–10 days versus 2–4 weeks with spores
  • Lower contamination risk: Established mycelium outcompetes contaminants far more effectively than germinating spores
  • Visual quality check: Unlike spore syringes, you can visually inspect a liquid culture for contamination before use — what you see is what you inoculate with
  • No flow hood required: Liquid culture injected through a self-healing injection port can be used in open air — spore syringes need sterile conditions to germinate cleanly
  • Infinitely expandable: One 10ml syringe inoculates 5–10 grain jars — or use it to create unlimited fresh liquid culture from a single source
  • The professional standard: Commercial mushroom farms work exclusively with liquid cultures — this is the tool serious cultivators use

Cloud920 — our liquid culture brand

All of our liquid culture syringes are produced under the Cloud920 label — our in-house mycology brand built around single-strain genetic isolation, sterile production, and consistent quality. Every batch is freshly tapped to order. We deliberately keep stock low to guarantee freshness. Backorders are always fulfilled with a newly prepared syringe, not aged stock sitting on a shelf.

  • Freshly tapped to order — never sitting in storage for months
  • Single-strain isolated mycelium — genetically consistent, not mixed
  • Sterile production under clean-room conditions
  • 25+ strains across 8 species — cubensis classics, exotic Psilocybe species, Panaeolus cyanescens, Lion's Mane and Reishi
  • Store at 2–8°C upon arrival — best used within 2 months

How to use a liquid culture syringe

Using a liquid culture syringe is straightforward — but sterile technique is essential. Work in a still-air box or in front of a flow hood. Flame sterilise the needle between inoculations. Shake the syringe gently before use to distribute the mycelium evenly. Inject directly into your grain jars, substrate bags, or all-in-one grow bags. For a full step-by-step breakdown, read All-in-One Grow Bag Instructions and How to Make Agar Plates — liquid culture works seamlessly with both methods.

  • Shake gently before use to distribute mycelium evenly through the solution
  • Work in a sterile environment — still-air box, flow hood, or self-healing injection port in open air
  • Flame sterilise the needle between each inoculation point
  • One syringe inoculates 5–10 grain jars or substrate bags
  • Can be used to expand into fresh sterile liquid culture medium for unlimited supply

Available strains

Our Cloud920 collection covers the full spectrum, from beginner-friendly Psilocybe cubensis classics to advanced, rare and exotic species. The range includes classic and exotic Psilocybe cubensis strains, exotic Psilocybe species such as Psilocybe natalensis, Psilocybe mexicana and Psilocybe zapotecorum, the potent tropical Panaeolus cyanescens, and functional species including Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus) and Reishi (Ganoderma lingzhi). All cultures are sold at the same per-syringe price; see each product page for current stock and details. Backorders are always fulfilled with a freshly tapped culture.

All liquid cultures are sold strictly for microscopy research and cultivation purposes. It is your responsibility to verify the legal status of mushroom cultivation in your own country before ordering. 18+ only.
