Enigma Liquid Culture Syringe – Cloud920

Enigma is a sterile Psilocybe cubensis mutation discovered in 2018 from a Tidal Wave × Penis Envy syringe — no spores, no fruit bodies, only dense coral-like tissue with extreme potency. Cloud920 supplies it as a 10 cc Hybrid Fusion liquid culture with a separately sealed sterile needle. Expert cultivars only: no traditional mushrooms, feel-based harvest, and top-tier tryptamine levels.

About the Enigma liquid culture

Enigma is not a strain in the traditional sense. It is a sterile mutation of Psilocybe cubensis, discovered in 2018 by mycologist Boomer Smith from a Magic Myco spore syringe that contained both Tidal Wave and Penis Envy genetics. From that mixed inoculum emerged something unlike any known cubensis phenotype: dense, coral-like, brain-like tissue masses instead of fruit bodies. Magic Myco later propagated the same mutation independently under the name Tidal Wave 2 and entered it in the Oakland Hyphae Psilocybin Cup, where it took top honours — sparking a still-ongoing community debate about ownership and naming.

Because Enigma produces no spores at all, it cannot be propagated in the conventional way. Every Enigma culture in existence traces back to tissue transfer from the original mutation — this is the definition of a clone-only cultivar. Cloud920 supplies Enigma as a 10cc liquid culture syringe in the Hybrid Fusion series, packaged with a separately sealed sterile needle. What you receive is live mycelium, not spores; the biology of Enigma leaves no other option.

Not for beginners — expert cultivar warning

Enigma is one of the most advanced cubensis cultivars in circulation. You should have prior successful cubensis grows on your record before attempting it, for three reasons. First, it produces no traditional mushrooms — you harvest firm, undifferentiated tissue masses that must be judged by feel, not sight. Second, colonisation and development are slower than typical cubensis, and the harvest window is narrow: waiting too long can cause thicker coral sections to rot overnight. Third, lab-verified potency is extreme — top-tier in the Psilocybin Cup — which changes dosing calculations significantly compared to standard strains. If you are new to cubensis mycology, start with Golden Teacher or B+ from the Heritage Series before working with Enigma.

Parentage and lineage

The parent syringe contained Tidal Wave × Penis Envy spores. Tidal Wave is itself a hybrid — a cross between B+ and Penis Envy documented by Homestead Book Company mycologists — so Enigma's genetic background is heavily weighted toward Penis Envy on both sides. That heritage is visible in the extreme potency, the slow colonisation, and the tendency toward morphological instability. Cloud920 does not yet stock Tidal Wave, but the Penis Envy parent is available in our catalogue as a separate Heritage Series liquid culture — a useful reference point for cultivators who want to compare Enigma against its more predictable ancestor.

Enigma differs from other Penis Envy descendants in one decisive way: it is completely sterile. APE (Albino Penis Envy), APE Revert, PE Uncut, and PE7 are all fertile isolates that can be propagated via spore prints. Enigma cannot. This is why every Enigma culture on the market descends from the same 2018 mutation — a single origin lineage sustained entirely through liquid culture and agar transfer.

What Enigma looks like — no mushrooms, only tissue

Enigma does not form caps, stems, or gills. Instead, colonised substrate produces dense masses of undifferentiated mycelial tissue: off-white to pale tan, coral-like, brain-like, or fin-like in structure. On damage, the tissue bruises strongly blue-green — the classic psilocybin oxidation signature — confirming the compounds are present in high concentration despite the absence of normal fruit bodies. Some cultivators describe the harvest-ready mass as feeling like a slightly under-inflated basketball: firm, dense, and holding its shape when pressed. Yields per Cloud920 Classic Kit XL fall in the 300–600 g fresh range across two flushes, which is medium for cubensis but exceptional given that every gram is high-potency tissue rather than water-heavy caps and stems.

Because there are no traditional visual markers, harvest timing depends on tactile assessment. Community consensus places the optimal window at 21–35 days from inoculation, but the exact moment is judged by mass firmness and colour change rather than a fixed calendar. This is why Enigma sits in the Hybrid Fusion series alongside other advanced cultivars rather than in the beginner-friendly Heritage Series.

How to use the liquid culture syringe

The syringe contains 10 cc of live Psilocybe cubensis mycelium suspended in a sterilised nutrient solution, ready for direct inoculation. It ships with a separately sealed sterile needle, packaged in the same box but unattached — you assemble the syringe just before use to preserve sterility. Enigma liquid culture inoculates the same media that any cubensis liquid culture accepts: sterilised grain (rye, oat, or millet), grain bags, all-in-one kits, or grain jars. Standard mycology sterile technique applies: flame-sterilise the needle, work in a still-air box or laminar flow, and swab injection ports with 70% isopropyl alcohol before and after use.

Enigma-specific cultivation notes: aim for 24–27 °C during colonisation, drop to 22–25 °C during the coral formation phase, and maintain high humidity (90%+) with minimal fresh-air exchange until the tissue mass is fully formed. Do not disturb the substrate looking for pins — there will be none. Watch the surface for the characteristic coral-like clusters to appear and consolidate. Full colonisation typically takes 14–21 days; tissue formation adds another 7–14 days.

What's included

  • 1 × 10 cc Enigma liquid culture syringe (Psilocybe cubensis, sterile mutation)
  • 1 × separately packaged sterile needle
  • Batch label with SKU, production date, and lot number
  • Cloud920 Hybrid Fusion series packaging

Storage and shelf life

Store the Enigma syringe upright in a refrigerator between 2 and 8 °C, protected from light. Under those conditions the culture remains viable for 6 to 12 months. Bring the syringe to room temperature for at least an hour before inoculation — cold liquid culture can shock the receiving media and delay colonisation. Do not freeze the syringe: the ice crystals rupture mycelial cells and effectively kill the culture.

Enigma liquid culture that has been stored properly should retain its slightly cloudy, cream-coloured appearance. Any sharp change in colour (pink, green, orange, black), foul or sour smells, or visible sedimentation with a coloured tint indicates contamination — do not inoculate with a contaminated syringe and contact Cloud920 support.

Sterile mutation — the legal and practical framing

Enigma occupies an unusual position in the cubensis catalogue. Because it produces no spores, it is not a spore product; because it is supplied as pre-colonised mycelium in nutrient solution, it is a liquid culture. In most European jurisdictions the legal status of Psilocybe cubensis mycelium differs from that of the fruit bodies, but rules vary by country and change over time. Buyers are responsible for verifying local legality before purchase and use. Enigma liquid culture from Cloud920 is supplied for mycological research and educational purposes.

Cloud920 quality and provenance

Every Enigma liquid culture syringe in this batch was produced under Cloud920's Hybrid Fusion series protocol: laminar-flow inoculation of a validated sterile nutrient broth using a genetically confirmed Enigma master culture, followed by minimum 21-day incubation with mid-run and end-of-run contamination screening. Each syringe is traceable to a production lot via the batch label. Cloud920 sources exclusively from clone-only cultivars for its Hybrid Fusion series, and Enigma is one of the most closely monitored genetics in the range because of its slow growth and narrow harvest window.
