About the MAK95 liquid culture

The MAK95 liquid culture — also known as DC MAK 95, DC Mak 95 or Mak95 — is a Hybrid Fusion cultivar of Psilocybe cubensis. It sits deep in the Penis Envy branch of cubensis genetics. Cloud920 places it in the Hybrid Fusion Series. That Series is reserved for cultivars bred and stabilised in cultivation, not collected in the wild. MAK95 is the more advanced, higher-potency sibling of the beginner-friendly wild landraces.

Origin and history of the MAK95 strain

MAK95 is a further isolation of DC Melmac. That parent is itself a Melmac variant from the classic Penis Envy lineage. The full chain runs Amazonian P. cubensis (McKenna, ~1971) → Penis Envy (Guitierrez, ~1975–78) → Melmac (Homestead PE / Florida) → DC Melmac → MAK95.

The "DC" prefix links the isolation to a pseudonymous mycologist active in Washington, D.C. mycology circles. No single formal breeder is publicly named. Spelling varies in the community — MAK 95, Mac 95, Mak95, DC MAK 95 — but all point to the same DC Melmac isolation. Do not confuse it with Atlas Spores' "DCM 95", which is documented as a separate microscopy-only strain with no stated Melmac lineage.
