What Can You Grow?

You can grow nearly any mushroom species you like - Psilocybe cubensis , Panaeolus cyanescens , oyster, shiitake, lion’s mane , chestnut, and more. The Monotub is compatible with different substrates, such as coco coir , straw , or hardwood sawdust.

What do you need?

The Boomer Shroomer Inflatable Monotub is basically a growing chamber. You will need a few items to get the best out of it.

• Cleaning alcohol - to wipe and clean the tub, the utensils and yourself
• 100% colonized spawn - there are several options. Here are the most popular methods used:
• Grain bags - that have been colonised with for instance, cubensis liquid culture
• A Cloud920 Ready-to-grow Bag
• A well colonized Ready-to-grow kit by Mondo , FreshMushrooms or GetMagic
• Substrate Mix - is recommended to grow cubensis*. Keeping a 2 to 1 ratio is suggested.
• Use 4000mL substrate mix with a Cloud920 XL Ready-to-grow bag or a 2000mL colonized spawn bag.
• When using a 1200cc Ready to grow kit from Mondo , FreshMushrooms or GetMagic , you will need 2000mL of substrate mix.
• When growing other types of mushrooms, make sure to use the appropriate substrate mix. You can also make your own substrate mix with the raw ingredients.

Simple Setup Guide

Step 1: Prepare Tub

• Inflate through bottom valve (takes 2 minutes)
• Clean your hands and arms, the inside and outside of the monotub thoroughly with 70% alcohol
• Spray cleaning alcohol in the bags with the red plugs. Insert red plugs in all holes

Step 2: Mix Materials

• Combine fully colonized mushroom “seeds” (grain spawn ) with damp soil (substrate )
• Test moisture: Squeeze soil - 1-2 water drops should appear

Step 3: Fill Tub

• Layer the colonized grain on the bottom and the substrate mix on top.
• Mix the two layers
• Press top layer gently to remove air pockets

Step 4: Growth Phase (7-14 days)

• Keep at 21-24°C
• Wait until white threads (mycelium) cover 80% of soil

Step 5: Harvest Phase

• Replace red plugs with white filters
• Ventilate 10 seconds daily
• Pick mushrooms when veil under caps  start to release

Step 6: Reuse System

• Add 1-2 L water after harvest
• Drain after 2 hours through the bottom
• Repeat process for 3-5 harvests
