Amazonas is one of the oldest and most historically significant cubensis lines in circulation, making it a prized addition to any serious collection.
Availability: In stock
The Amazonas strain is one of the most storied Psilocybe cubensis varieties in existence. Believed to have been originally collected from the warm, humid lowlands of the Amazon rainforest, this strain carries a deep connection to the very beginnings of modern cubensis culture. Its tall, robust fruiting bodies and reliable growth have earned it a lasting reputation among collectors and enthusiasts worldwide.
A Strain Rooted in Mycological History
The Amazonas lineage is widely considered one of the earliest commercial cubensis genetics to enter circulation. Its origins are often linked to ethnobotanical expeditions through the Amazon basin during the 1970s, with some accounts connecting it to the explorations of Terence and Dennis McKenna. Over the following decades, the strain was preserved and distributed by early spore vendors, cementing its place as a foundational variety in the cubensis world. Today, Amazonas remains one of the most recognisable and historically significant strain names in any spore catalogue.
Visual Characteristics of Amazonas
- Cap: Broad and convex, golden-brown to caramel when young, fading to a lighter tan towards the edges as the mushroom matures. Often displays a pronounced central bump.
- Stem: Tall and thick, white to off-white, frequently reaching impressive heights. Bruises blue when handled — a hallmark oxidation reaction.
- Overall appearance: Large, meaty fruits with a classic tropical cubensis look — commanding and well-proportioned, standing out for their sheer size.
A Collector's Benchmark Strain
Amazonas is valued by enthusiasts who appreciate strains with genuine provenance and a long track record. Its deep roots in mycological history, combined with its bold physical appearance, make it an excellent reference strain for comparing newer or more exotic cubensis varieties. Many collectors consider it a cornerstone of any well-rounded spore library — a piece of living history that represents the origins of the modern cubensis hobby.

I have rated 5 stars since I believe -by indirect proof- the product (spore print) was genuine. Unfortunately, it did not arrive home. It was possibly blocked by the paranoid Italian customs. Indeed, I have received calls from the shipping carrier asking me about the content of the package.Rating
