What to expect from a FreshMushrooms® grow kit

FreshMushrooms® kits are 100% mycelium grow kits. The substrate is fully colonised and ready to fruit as soon as you set it up. Unlike grow kits that use layers of vermiculite and perlite, FreshMushrooms® kits rely on a rye-based formula refined over 25+ years in the lab.

Timeline and yield

Under proper conditions — a stable temperature around 23 °C and indirect daylight — you can expect to see the first pins within approximately 2 weeks. The first flush is usually the largest. After harvesting, soak the kit in cold water and set it up again for a second flush. Most growers get two good harvests per kit.

A 1200 cc kit typically yields around 400–500 grams of fresh mushrooms across both flushes. Results vary by strain and growing conditions.

How to use

FreshMushrooms® kits require very little maintenance. There is no need to soak or mist the kit before the first harvest — simply fill the grow box with water as described in the instructions, place it in the grow bag, and wait. Always follow the instructions specific to your kit for the best results.

Important: the grow bag has holes — this is normal

The FreshMushrooms® grow bag is designed with multiple small holes for air exchange. This is intentional and essential for healthy mushroom growth. Do not seal or cover these holes. When you add water to the grow box, some water may leak through the bag — this is completely normal. Simply place the bag on a plate or tray to catch any excess water.

Please note: FreshMushrooms® kits have their own specific instructions. Do not use instructions from other grow kit brands — the setup is different. Always follow the correct FreshMushrooms® instructions for the best results.
