The Thai is already the fastest coloniser in the GetMagic® range — combine that speed with the 2100 ml XL substrate and you get the quickest route to a large harvest. Nearly double the colonised substrate means taller mushrooms, denser clusters, and significantly bigger flushes. If you want rapid results and maximum yield, the Thai XL is the most efficient kit in the lineup.
Thai psilocybe cubensis originates from the tropical islands and lowland regions of Thailand, where locals have used it for centuries — calling it "hed keequai" (laughing mushroom). This strain was collected by ethnomycologist John W. Allen during fieldwork across the Thai islands in the early 1990s. The mushrooms produce sturdy fruiting bodies with round, brown-red caps (30–70 mm) that flatten and lighten as they mature, set on thick, fibrous stems (50–150 mm). In the XL kit, the extra substrate pushes individual fruits noticeably taller and heavier.
The experience is energetic, social, and visually stimulating: bright colour enhancement, waves of euphoria, and a clear, uplifting headspace. Thai sits above average in potency and delivers a more physically active, outward experience compared to introspective strains like Golden Teacher or Mazatapec.
Growing the Thai XL
The method is identical to the 1200 ml kit — same grow bag, same steps. The Thai's aggressive mycelium colonises the larger XL substrate almost as quickly as the standard size, so you won't be waiting much longer for pins to appear. Keep the temperature at 24 °C and expect pinning within 7–14 days. The Thai XL fruits in dense, tall clusters that fill the grow bag impressively. This strain also recovers fast between flushes — you can often start a new soak within days of harvesting.

What's the difference between the 1200 ml and 2100 ml XL kit?
Same strain, same method, bigger box. The XL contains nearly double the colonised substrate, which translates to higher yields (400–800 g vs. 200–400 g), taller individual mushrooms, and typically an extra flush or two. The Thai's fast colonisation means the XL barely takes longer to start pinning than the standard size — you get more yield without much extra wait.

Is the Thai a good summer strain?
Yes — the Thai thrives in warm conditions and handles higher room temperatures better than most cubensis strains. If your growing space naturally stays around 24–26 °C during summer months, the Thai is the ideal choice. Strains that prefer cooler conditions (like Ecuadorian at 23 °C) may struggle in summer heat, but the Thai's tropical genetics make it right at home.

The grow box process was, as with the previous boxes, very simple and straightforward. I only recommend covering the bottom of the box with aluminum foil, for example, since most of my fruit grew downwards or on the sides. The first flush yielded about 35g of dried fruit. We've already snacked on some of them together and had a wonderful experience filled with endless laughter and lots of yawns. Perfect for a nighttime hike through the woods together. Beautiful optics and an overall very harmonious, happy trip. Highly recommended :) Thanks to the website team for your valuable work.
