- Ventilate daily from day 10 — briefly open the bag, press out stale air, let fresh air in, close again (under 30 seconds). Stop when pins appear; resume daily ventilation between flushes.

When to harvest Hillbilly Pumpkin
Hillbilly Pumpkin follows the classic cubensis harvest rule — pick when the veil is under tension but not yet fully torn. Use these visual cues:
- Veil under tension — the thin membrane connecting cap edge to stem should look taut, showing tension but not yet fully torn. Once the veil breaks and separates from the cap, harvest immediately.
- Caps still convex or bell-shaped — Hillbilly Pumpkin caps should still be dome-shaped at harvest, with the characteristic pumpkin-orange colour deepened to a slight sheen. Once caps flatten and edges curl upward, the mushroom is past its prime.
A quick backup check: gently squeeze the stem base — it should feel firm with only slight give. Fully marshmallow-soft means you have waited too long.
