No strain has shaped the world of mushroom cultivation quite like the Golden Teacher. It first appeared in the 1980s — reportedly found growing wild in Florida — and quickly spread through underground mycology circles. No breeder has ever claimed credit for its creation. It simply arrived, proved itself, and stayed. Today it remains the benchmark against which nearly all other Psilocybe cubensis strains are measured.
The name says it all: golden caps and a reputation for guiding growers and users through calm, reflective experiences. Golden Teacher is the strain most people start with — and the one many keep coming back to.
Appearance
Golden Teacher mushrooms are instantly recognisable. The caps are a warm honey-gold to amber colour, starting convex before gradually flattening out with a gentle central bump as they mature. Some caps develop a subtle wavy edge at full size. The stems are thick, sturdy, and white — occasionally showing a light bluish bruise when handled. Under the cap, dark purple-brown gills produce a generous spore print. Overall, Golden Teacher has a classic, elegant look: medium to large fruit bodies that grow in uniform clusters, making harvest day genuinely satisfying.

I'm a first time grower and I was very pleased with these. They arrived promptly in neutral packaging and the instructions were clear and easy to follow.Rating
I grew them using a heat mat. I put two small paperback books on the mat and the kit on top of the books. I got 3 decent yields. The first was 168g, the second 140g and the third 90g.
Each flush grew from the sides only and they were deep rooted so it was difficult to pick them without breaking the substrate. For the third flush I took the cake out of the box and rested it on the upside down box. I think I could possibly have got a 4th flush, but the substrate was in pieces and a new order arrived so I binned it.
I scrubbed up like a surgeon any time I had to put my hands in the bag and I only opened the bag for a maximum of 5 minutes to air them each day. I only had to mist inside the bag once or twice as there always seemed to be plenty of moisture inside.
The trips were good and I had a couple of nice insights but they weren't very deep or intense. I made the interesting discovery that mushrooms don't have any psychedelic effect if you're taking antibiotics. I was at the tail end of a course of penicilin for a tooth abscess and 100 wet grams had zero effect. I fell asleep and didn't even have very intense dreams. I Googled it afterwards and it seems to be a common experience.
Overall I was very pleased with this order, and I'd recommend Golden Teacher for first time grower.

Package arrived in good time however i discovered a crack in the bottom of the container and was advised to cover this with tin foil and carry on. First flush almost complete after two weeks. No mushrooms grew in the centre of the box, they were all around the outside, and so far I only have about 10 mushrooms. However the total weight of the first flush is 190gm, with a few stragglers being picked in the next few days. Then will start my second flush. Everything worked great and my first experience with shrooms was awesome but not as insigtfull as I hoped but I think a higher dose might hit the spot. I do recommend that you find the grow guide from the website for this specific brand of grow kits since it is way easier to understand than the explanation found in the description. Altogether got about 8 grams dry on the first crop, which as a first time user I was happy with. The second flush produced 1 beast of a mushroom which gave me a good night just off that one. And it doesn't look like there will be a third flush.Rating
I definitely recommend this kit to any beginners, I would definitely recommend going from a spore syringe and learning how to grow your own from scratch for anyone that wants a much bigger grow.

No offence to magicmushroomshop but ive been a verry long customer these are by far the worst kits ive ever had baught 2 kits and 1st flushs came to 8grams dry in total shocking as for the double strenth claim its lies there actully weaker than mms own kits and alot less potent than supa gro followed instructions to a t so dissapointed actully puts me off buying from this site again sorry mms you have lost some of my trust ... Only thing I would mention is that if you buy different strains the names aren’t on the plastic boxes - so don’t do what I did and take them out the white box without labelling... Package arrived on time. Very discreet - nothing in or outside the box gives any obvious clue as to the contents real purpose, apart maybe from the "reptile mat".Rating
On the first flush, 90% of the mushrooms sprouted from between the box and the mycelium, not sure why. Even so many grew quite large (the largest was 20g) and resulted in 220g first flush. While this is not as large as some have reported, I'm still well pleased with my first attempt - and there's still the next flushes to look forward to.
Brilliant kit, fascinating to grow, highly recommended.

Not sure why but mushrooms grew only on one side of the kit.
