No strain has shaped the world of mushroom cultivation quite like the Golden Teacher. It first appeared in the 1980s — reportedly found growing wild in Florida — and quickly spread through underground mycology circles. No breeder has ever claimed credit for its creation. It simply arrived, proved itself, and stayed. Today it remains the benchmark against which nearly all other Psilocybe cubensis strains are measured.

The name says it all: golden caps and a reputation for guiding growers and users through calm, reflective experiences. Golden Teacher is the strain most people start with — and the one many keep coming back to.

Appearance

Golden Teacher mushrooms are instantly recognisable. The caps are a warm honey-gold to amber colour, starting convex before gradually flattening out with a gentle central bump as they mature. Some caps develop a subtle wavy edge at full size. The stems are thick, sturdy, and white — occasionally showing a light bluish bruise when handled. Under the cap, dark purple-brown gills produce a generous spore print. Overall, Golden Teacher has a classic, elegant look: medium to large fruit bodies that grow in uniform clusters, making harvest day genuinely satisfying.

Growth characteristics

Golden Teacher is one of the most forgiving strains to cultivate. The mycelium is aggressive — colonising fast and outpacing potential contaminants. It tolerates minor fluctuations in temperature and humidity without stalling, which makes it an ideal choice for first-time growers. Despite that resilience, Golden Teacher also rewards experienced cultivators with reliable, repeatable flushes. Expect medium-to-large mushrooms that fruit in even clusters rather than scattered singles.

What to expect from this kit

Everything worked great and my first experience with shrooms was awesome but not as insigtfull as I hoped but I think a higher dose might hit the spot. I do recommend that you find the grow guide from the website for this specific brand of grow kits since it is way easier to understand than the explanation found in the description. Altogether got about 8 grams dry on the first crop, which as a first time user I was happy with. The second flush produced 1 beast of a mushroom which gave me a good night just off that one. And it doesn't look like there will be a third flush.

I definitely recommend this kit to any beginners, I would definitely recommend going from a spore syringe and learning how to grow your own from scratch for anyone that wants a much bigger grow.

I regret not cloning some of these golden teachers so if anyone wants to make the most of this kit, clone your first crop because there might not be a second lot! I wish I did (Posted on 10/18/2018)

No offence to magicmushroomshop but ive been a verry long customer these are by far the worst kits ive ever had baught 2 kits and 1st flushs came to 8grams dry in total shocking as for the double strenth claim its lies there actully weaker than mms own kits and alot less potent than supa gro followed instructions to a t so dissapointed actully puts me off buying from this site again sorry mms you have lost some of my trust ... Package arrived on time. Very discreet - nothing in or outside the box gives any obvious clue as to the contents real purpose, apart maybe from the "reptile mat".

On the first flush, 90% of the mushrooms sprouted from between the box and the mycelium, not sure why. Even so many grew quite large (the largest was 20g) and resulted in 220g first flush. While this is not as large as some have reported, I'm still well pleased with my first attempt - and there's still the next flushes to look forward to.

Brilliant kit, fascinating to grow, highly recommended.

Professionalism excels in every part of this process.

Selection and variety of products reveal knowledge. I have some experience in lab equipment and that is what it is used in lot of them.

I cannot say for other fresh kits, but I harvested my first ever yield yesterday and it is as advertised and seen in pictures. I followed instructions to the letter and managed to provide optimal conditions as indicated in the instructions and I am still amazed at the height, thickness, weight and number of beautiful and thick grow surface.

Fast shipment with discreet packaging and very smart at it too. Heating mat is for my lizards and spiders, right? :P

Will get more from them soon and will write review of the potency and effect but in all honesty, I expect continuation of the good experience.
