Ephedra | Ephedra sinica | 20 seeds
Availability: In stock
Ephedra sinica, commonly known as Chinese Ephedra or Ma Huang, is a slender, rush-like shrub native to arid and semi-arid regions of northeastern China and Mongolia. It forms dense clumps of jointed, yellowish-green stems, reaching 20–40 cm in height, with small scale-like leaves and inconspicuous flowers. This species is distinct from Ephedra nevadensis (Nevada Ephedra), which is native to the southwestern United States.
In traditional Chinese medicine, Ephedra sinica — known as Ma Huang — has one of the longest documented histories of any plant, recorded in Chinese materia medica texts for over 5,000 years. It is an ethnobotanical plant of significant cultural and historical importance across East Asia. This packet contains 20 seeds, suitable for cultivation in well-drained sandy soil in a sunny, dry position.
