You've done your research on microdosing. You know the Stamets Stack combines three ingredients: magic truffles, Lion's Mane, and niacin. Now you're looking for the right niacin – and you just found it.
Why Niacin Flush?
Not all niacin is the same. For the Stamets Stack, you need the flush variety: niacin based on nicotinic acid. This is the form that causes a temporary warm, tingling sensation in your skin – and that's exactly the point. Paul Stamets suggests this dilates blood vessels and supports the uptake of the other compounds in your stack. The no-flush variety simply won't cut it here.
What is a niacin flush and what can you expect?
About 50 to 70% of people who take nicotinic acid experience a flush – so if it happens to you, you're in good company. It's not an allergic reaction, even though it can feel like one. Your blood vessels widen and you'll notice a warm, red, tingling or slightly itchy sensation, mostly on your face, neck, chest and arms. It usually kicks in within 15 to 30 minutes after taking the tablet and fades on its own within 1 to 2 hours.
- Warm, red skin – often face, neck and upper body
- Tingling or mild itching sensation
- Starts within 15–30 minutes, fades within 1–2 hours
- Completely harmless – this is the effect Stamets is looking for
- Taking the tablet with food can soften the flush
What's in this bottle?
Each tablet contains 100 mg of nicotinic acid – that's 625% of the recommended daily intake. Proviform is a Dutch brand known for its reliable quality. The tablets are easy to swallow and contain only standard excipients like cellulose and magnesium stearate alongside the active ingredient.
- 100 mg nicotinic acid (vitamin B3) per tablet
- 100 tablets per bottle – enough for one full microdosing month
- Flush variety: the only one that works in the Stamets Stack
- Made by Proviform – trusted Dutch quality brand
- Free from unnecessary additives
How do you use this in the Stamets Stack?
Take 1 tablet (100 mg) per day, together with your microdose and Lion's Mane. Follow the 4-days-on, 3-days-off schedule. This bottle contains 100 tablets – enough for a full month of microdosing with a few tablets to spare.
- Days 1–4: 1 tablet niacin + microdose + Lion's Mane
- Days 5–7: no microdose, niacin optional
- After 4 weeks: take a 2 to 4 week break
Allergic to niacin? It's very rare, but possible
A real allergy to niacin is uncommon, but it does exist. The difference with a regular flush? An allergic reaction goes beyond warm, red skin. Stop taking niacin and contact a doctor right away if you notice any of the following:
- Hives (raised, itchy bumps) instead of a flat red flush
- Swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face
- Shortness of breath, wheezing or tightness in the chest
- Dizziness, fainting or a sudden drop in blood pressure
- A rash that doesn't fade within 2 hours
If you've had allergic reactions to B-vitamins before, check with your doctor before starting. For everyone else: a normal flush is harmless and part of the experience.
