Hole Plugs for Standard Monotubs — 6-Pack
Six food-grade silicone hole plugs sized for the 2" (51 mm) holes in a standard monotub. Snap them in during the colonisation phase to keep CO₂ trapped and humidity high; pop them out and switch to adhesive filter patches when you flip to fruiting. Autoclavable and fully reusable.

The Hole Plugs for Standard Monotubs give you simple, mechanical control over the most important transition in any monotub grow: the switch from colonisation to fruiting. Six 2" (51 mm) silicone plugs that snap into the same holes your filter patches sit on.
During colonisation the mycelium does best in a CO₂-saturated, high-humidity environment — exactly what these plugs create when you seal the FAE holes. Once the substrate is fully colonised and you are ready to fruit, simply pop the plugs out and replace them with adhesive filter patches. No drilling new holes, no tape, no foam. Two minutes per tub.
How the standard monotub ecosystem fits together
- Drill the 2" FAE holes once, with the .
- Seal those same holes during colonisation with these silicone plugs.
- Swap to when the tub is ready for fruiting.
Why use plugs at all?
Many growers tape over their FAE holes during colonisation. Tape is fiddly, it leaves adhesive residue on the tub wall, and you almost always rip a corner of your filter patch off when you remove it. Plugs are pressed-in once, removed once, and stored in a Ziploc with your spawn jars for next time. They also do not lose grip when the tub gets humid — a common failure mode of cheap tape during long colonisation runs.
