Albino Penis Envy traces back to Terence McKenna's original Penis Envy genetics from the 1970s — itself one of the most potent cubensis strains ever found. The albino mutation was later stabilised by Sporeworks, producing the snow-white, dense fruit bodies that made APE a cult classic. The problem? Classic APE is notoriously slow. Grain colonisation alone takes 3–4 weeks, fruiting can stretch past 6 weeks, and every extra day is another day the substrate is exposed to contamination risk. APE221 was selected specifically to solve this bottleneck — an isolation that retains the full genetic profile and potency of APE while cutting the colonisation timeline down significantly. The mycelium is more aggressive, the pins appear sooner, and the overall time from setup to harvest is closer to what you'd expect from a standard cubensis — not the weeks-long marathon that classic APE demands.

Classic APE takes so long to colonise that every extra week is another week bacteria or mould can take hold — which is why APE has a reputation for being "expert only." APE221 solves this by colonising more aggressively, which means fewer days the substrate sits vulnerable. How the Cloud920 Grow Bag Works
- Open once — fold the bag open in a clean space to allow fresh air in and trigger pinning.
- Place and wait — put the bag in indirect light at 23°C. No soaking, no misting required in the first phase.
- Air daily from week 2 — briefly open and refold the bag once a day to encourage pin development.
- Harvest and repeat — twist and pull mushrooms at the base before caps

I have to admit to not doing the proper research before choosing the strain to do my very first attempt at growing mushrooms. Had I, I would have chosen golden teacher, apparently an almost fool proof type. So I set up my APE grow bag and thought I've only myself to blame.Rating
To my utter delight I saw my first genuine mushroom on Saturday. It's probably only a week over the instructions say, considering it's winter, it's been great.
As much as I wish I could take the credit, I was just along for the ride and pretty much just drenched myself and everything in the room with disinfectant. The real credit should go to the guys at the Magic Mushroom Shop for providing me with an excellent product.

The kit grew unexpectedly fast, in a bit more than a couple of weeks i had a nice flush.
Reguarding the intensity i wasn’t too impressed
but that may not be due to the shrooms themselves.
anyway they were fairly intense, and most surprisingly they lasted for very long, wave after wave i just kept feeling higher, in fact i was was worried it would not end.
the bodily sensation was of relaxation and calm.
i was very pleased.
a nice and long trip, with some music to accompany me.
8/10 would recommend.

The 1st flush pinning started on day 13 and I harvested on day 18. I expected pinning to start later than this as APE is characterised by slow growth. The use of a grow mat encouraged early pinning.
