Cover Glasses 18x18mm — 100 pieces

Cover glasses (also called coverslips) are essential consumables for any microscopy workflow. Placed over a specimen on a slide, they flatten the sample, hold water or staining reagents in place, and protect the objective lens from contact with the sample. For spore microscopy and mycology, they make the difference between a usable image and a blurry, drifting mount.

Each pack contains 100 cover glasses of 18 x 18 mm, the most common size for use with standard 25 x 75 mm microscope slides. The thin, even glass keeps the specimen at the correct focal distance for 4x, 10x, 40x and 100x objectives without distortion.

Typical use in spore microscopy

• Place a small amount of spores in a drop of water on a slide.
• Gently lower a cover glass at an angle to avoid air bubbles.
• Examine under 40x to 1000x to identify spore shape, size and color.
• Discard after use to avoid cross-contamination between samples.
