Adhesive Self-Healing Injection Ports 18mm | 50 pieces

Pack of 50 self-healing adhesive injection ports for safe, sterile inoculation of mushroom grow bags, grain spawn jars and monotub lids. Just peel, stick, and inject — no drilling, no tools. The silicone membrane seals around the needle during injection and closes back up afterwards, keeping your substrate fully protected from airborne contaminants.

Details

The Adhesive Self-Healing Injection Port is a small silicone disc with industrial adhesive backing that you stick directly onto a mushroom grow bag, jar lid or any sealed container. It turns any surface into a safe, reusable injection point for your spore syringe or liquid culture — without needing a drill, a special lid, or a rubber grommet.

This is the version you want for grow bags and any container you cannot (or do not want to) drill into. If you already have a pre-drilled 13 mm hole in a jar lid and prefer a push-in butyl rubber grommet, see our Self-Healing Injection Ports (10 pieces, butyl rubber, push-in) instead.

Safe, sterile injection

The disc is made of medical-grade self-healing silicone. When you push a sterile needle through it, the silicone parts cleanly around the shaft and then snaps back the moment the needle is withdrawn. There is no open hole at any stage of the injection, so contaminant spores and bacteria have no path into your substrate. Each port handles 10–20 punctures before the membrane stops re-sealing reliably.

How to apply and inject

  1. Wipe the target surface (bag, lid, plastic) with 70% isopropyl alcohol and let it air-dry.
  2. Peel the paper backing off the port and press it down firmly for 10–15 seconds. The adhesive bonds permanently to polyethylene grow bags, polypropylene lids, glass and most plastics.
  3. Before each injection, swab the silicone face of the port with alcohol.
  4. Push a sterile needle straight through the centre of the port and inject 1–5 mL of spore solution or liquid culture.
  5. Withdraw the needle slowly. The silicone re-seals around the puncture immediately — your bag or jar stays sealed.

Why use an adhesive injection port

  • No drilling required — works on any flat, clean surface, including thin-walled grow bags where drilling is impossible.
  • Sterile inoculation — the self-healing membrane eliminates the contamination risk of injecting through tape or polyfill.
  • Reusable — re-inject 10–20 times through the same port (useful for liquid culture top-ups or staggered inoculation).
  • Autoclavable once applied; survives pressure cooker sterilisation.
  • Bulk pack of 50 — enough for dozens of bags, jars or tubs.

Where to apply

  • Mushroom grow bags (polyethylene, autoclavable bags) — the main use case
  • Grain spawn jars with PP plastic lids
  • Liquid culture jars
  • Monotub lids for in-situ inoculation
  • Any sealed plastic, glass or metal container you want to inject into without opening
