Myco Lid Pro™ — Injection-Molded Wide-Mouth Mason Jar Lid
Professional injection-molded mason jar lid for wide-mouth jars (86 mm), built for serious mycology work. Combines a self-healing injection port for repeat sterile inoculations with a 0.22 µm PTFE syringe filter for clean gas exchange. Fully autoclavable, reusable across many grow cycles — a one-time upgrade that replaces drilling, gluing and disposable lids.
Availability: In stock
The Myco Lid Pro™ is a precision injection-molded lid designed for wide-mouth mason jars used in liquid culture, grain spawn and agar transfer work. Two essential features come built into one robust lid: a self-healing silicone injection port for sterile spore-syringe or LC inoculation, and a 0.22 µm PTFE syringe filter for filtered gas exchange. No drilling, no gluing, no silicone hacks — drop it on your jar and pressure-cook.
Why upgrade from DIY metal lids?
Modified metal canning lids work, but they rust, warp under pressure, leak when the silicone bead fails, and need re-drilling every few cycles. The Myco Lid Pro™ solves all of that in a single moulded piece:
- No drilling, no curing — port and filter are factory-fitted. Ready to use out of the bag.
- Self-healing injection port — designed for repeat inoculations without losing its seal.
- 0.22 µm PTFE filter — blocks bacterial and fungal contaminants while still allowing CO₂/O₂ exchange.
- Autoclavable & reusable — survives many pressure-cooker cycles at 121 °C / 15 psi.
- Leak-proof seal — works with any standard wide-mouth mason jar locking band.
What it's used for
- Liquid culture (LC) jars — inoculate with a spore syringe through the injection port, transfer with sterile needles.
- Grain spawn jars — sterile inoculation with LC, filtered gas exchange during colonisation.
- Agar transfer & tissue culture work — clean, reusable replacement for disposable lids.
Specifications
- Type: injection-molded one-piece lid with built-in port and filter
- Fits: wide-mouth mason jars (86 mm) — Ball, Kerr and compatible
- Injection port: self-healing silicone, sized for standard spore-syringe and LC needles
- Filter: 0.22 µm PTFE syringe filter for sterile gas exchange
- Sterilisation: autoclavable / pressure-cooker safe
- Use case: liquid culture, grain spawn, agar work, tissue culture
How to use
- Fill your wide-mouth jar with grain or LC media.
- Place the Myco Lid Pro™ on the jar, secure with the standard wide-mouth locking band — finger-tight, a quarter turn loose for sterilisation.
- Cover the filter with foil and pressure-cook at 121 °C / 15 psi for the time required by your medium.
- Once cooled, inoculate through the self-healing port with a sterile syringe. Re-seal happens automatically.
- Incubate. The filter handles gas exchange during colonisation.
Tip — pair with a clean spore source
The Myco Lid Pro™ is at its best when paired with high-quality, contaminant-free spore syringes or liquid cultures. Browse our spore syringes and liquid cultures categories to load your jars.
