Self-Adhesive Lid Filters 18 mm — 50 Pieces

The Self-Adhesive Lid Filter is a small synthetic filter patch with an adhesive backing. Stick it over a drilled hole in your substrate jar lid and the mycelium can breathe through 0.22 µm filtration — fine enough to block mold spores and bacteria, but permeable enough for healthy CO₂/O₂ exchange (FAE).

How it fits in your jar-lid setup

Every properly prepared substrate jar lid has two 7.1 mm holes — one for a port, one for a filter:

• Self-healing injection port — for sterile inoculation with a spore syringe or LC needle.
• Self-adhesive lid filter (this product) — over the second 7.1 mm hole so the jar can breathe during colonisation.

One filter handles the air exchange; one port handles the inoculation. Together they turn any plastic or metal lid into a proper mycology lid.

How to use

1. Drill a clean 7.1 mm hole in your jar lid (use our drill bit below).
2. Deburr the hole edge — a smooth rim is critical for a clean adhesive seal.
3. Wipe the area with 70 % isopropyl alcohol and let it dry.
4. Peel the backing and press the filter firmly over the hole, full 360° contact around the edge. Hold for 10–30 s.
5. Sterilise the jar in a pressure cooker at 121 °C / 15 psi — the adhesive is heat-stable.
