Peruvian Torch | Echinopsis peruviana | 100 seeds
Availability: In stock
Echinopsis peruviana, the Peruvian Torch, is a tall columnar cactus native to the western Andes of Peru, typically found at elevations of 2,000–3,000 metres. It develops multi-ribbed, bluish-green columns that can reach 3–6 metres in height, adorned with clusters of pale to golden-brown spines. One of its most spectacular features is its large white flowers, up to 20 cm across, which open only after dark and close again by dawn — a fleeting but magnificent display.
This packet contains 100 Echinopsis peruviana seeds. The species is well-regarded among cactus enthusiasts for its relatively fast germination and vigorous growth compared to many other columnar cacti. Sow seeds in well-draining sandy substrate at 20–25°C in a bright position. Echinopsis peruviana is the accepted current botanical name; the synonym Trichocereus peruvianus is outdated and no longer in standard use.
