Dozens of fake magic mushroom shops are stealing money from unsuspecting buyers every day. These scam sites copy product photos, invent reviews, and never ship a single package. This page helps you recognise the red flags and avoid losing your money to fraudulent magic mushroom websites.
How to Spot a Magic Mushroom Scam Site
Scam sites in the magic mushroom and truffle space have become increasingly sophisticated. However, they all share the same telltale signs. Before you place an order with any shop, run through this checklist.
The 7 Red Flags of a Scam Shop
They accept PayPal — this is the single biggest red flag. Legitimate smartshops and headshops in the Netherlands cannot accept PayPal for these products because payment processors and banks actively block these transactions. If a site offers PayPal, it almost certainly means they are not a real registered business. Trusted shops like ours use specialised, compliant payment providers instead.
Prices that are too good to be true — scam sites often undercut real shops by 30–50% to lure victims. They can promise any price because they never actually ship anything.
Stolen product photos — many scam sites copy images directly from legitimate shops (including ours). Right-click any product image and do a reverse image search. If the same photo appears on multiple unrelated sites, that is a warning sign.
No verifiable business address — a legitimate shop has a registered business address, a Chamber of Commerce number (KvK in the Netherlands), and a VAT number. If you cannot verify these details, walk away. Our registration details are listed on our About Us page and in our General Terms and Conditions.
No reviews — check for real customer feedback. Scam sites either have no reviews at all or display fake testimonials.
Recently registered domain — use a free WHOIS lookup tool to check when the domain was registered. Most scam sites are less than a year old. Our domain, magic-mushrooms-shop.com, has been active since 2007 — over 18 years of continuous service.
No working customer service — try contacting the shop before ordering. Scam sites typically have no phone number, no live chat, and never respond to emails. They only talk about payment, and have no knowledge about the products.
The payment method test is the fastest way to check. If a magic mushroom or truffle shop accepts PayPal, it is not a legitimate smartshop. Real payment processors do not allow these products on standard banking rails. This single check will filter out the vast majority of scam sites.

What to Do If You Have Been Scammed
If you already paid a scam site, take these steps as soon as possible:
Contact your bank or credit card company immediately — request a chargeback. The sooner you act, the higher your chance of recovering the funds.
Report the site — file a complaint with your local consumer protection authority. In the Netherlands, this is the ACM (Authority for Consumers and Markets). In the EU, you can also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.
Report the domain — submit an abuse report to the domain registrar (look it up via WHOIS) and to Google Safe Browsing so others are warned.
Do not engage further — scam operators sometimes follow up with fake "shipping delay" emails to buy time. Do not send additional payments or personal information.
Help Us Fight Magic Mushroom Scam Sites
We actively work to take down fraudulent sites that steal our name, photos, and product descriptions. However, fighting scam sites is a bit like picking mushrooms — take one down and another pops up somewhere else. That is why we need your help to keep this list current.
If you come across a suspicious magic mushroom or truffle shop that is not yet on our list, please report it to our support team. Include the website URL and, if possible, a screenshot. We will investigate and, where we can, take steps to have the site removed. In every case, we will add confirmed scam domains to this page so other customers are warned.
Together we make a difference. Several domains on the list above were reported by customers just like you. Every report helps protect the community — even if a takedown takes time, the warning on this page reaches thousands of people each month.
