Years of planning and testing has resulted in the next generation of Mondo® McKennaii Magic Mushroom grow kits. The Mondo® Grow Kit McKennaii has become better than it ever was. Compared to the first generation of Psilocybe cubensis Mondo® McKennaii Grow Kit, the next generation is improved with:
- Larger yields, more mushrooms
- More flushes*
- Better resistance against contaminations
- Different, but easier instructions
*some strains produce more flushes than others. The first three flushes are the largest.
Meet the new standard of easy grow kits
The Psilocybe cubensis Mondo® McKennaii Magic Mushroom grow kit is slightly different than the grow kits you might have used before. This is seen only in the substrate recipe and is a secret not just shared with everyone. Not even with us!
Just like the previous and other easy grow kits, you do not need to use additional spores. During the laboratory process, the spores have developed into mycelium inside the substrate (the cake) in the grow box. The mycelium has fully colonized the substrate and is ready to grow mushrooms.
How to store the mushroom grow kit correctly
It is recommended to start the cultivation process right away. If you decide to start growing later, you may store the grow kit in the refrigerator (2°C to 8°C) for 2 weeks. First, wrap the grow kit in a plastic shopping bag and close it well.
Contents of the Mckennaii Mushroom Grow Kit
- 1x grow box – This contains substrate with active mycelium (the cake)
- 1x grow bag – The bag has a micron filter to keep contaminants out
- 1x reusable yellow seal – For closing the grow bag.
You need
- Misting Bottle – Misting is needed for the humidity level
- Potable water – For misting and soaking
- Clean environment – Work clean to give other fungi and bacteria (micro organisms) no chance to contaminate.
We recommend using
- (when room temperature drops below 18°C)
How to prepare the room and yourself before you begin
- Close any open windows. Wind or draft may bring microorganisms that can contaminate the Psilocybe cubensis 'McKennaii' Magic Mushroom grow kit.
- When taking out the grow box with the cake from the carton box, put it on a disinfected surface. If this surface would not be clean, microorganisms may attach to the grow box and will flourish inside the Psilocybe cubensis 'McKennaii' Magic Mushroom grow kit and will contaminate the grow box.
- Make sure you work with clean hands and arms. We recommend using surgical gloves or a good disinfectant when handling the kit. You should use a facemask to avoid breathing into the grow bag and on the cake.
Starting the process
- Fill the box with fresh, potable water. Close the grow box well and let it soak for 12 hours.
- After 12 hours, pour the surplus of water out of the grow box.
- Place the grow box inside the grow bag. The open end of the bag should point upwards.
- Remove the lid from the grow box. Rinse the lid and store it in the carton box.
- Fold the open end of grow bag twice; do not cover the micron filter.
- Place the reusable yellow seal on the fold, so the bag stays closed. Now the Psilocybe cubensis 'McKennaii' Magic Mushroom grow kit is ready to grow.
- Place the Psilocybe cubensis 'McKennaii' Magic Mushroom grow kit inside the carton box, on top of the ziploc with lid.

Temperature
The ideal temperature is 24°C. Do not have the temperature drop under 18°C and not exceed 29°C. To keep the temperature from dropping under the 18°C, you can use a to maintain the ideal temperature. A thermo mat is a must-have in the winter or colder regions of the world.
Light
The Psilocybe cubensis Mondo® McKennaii Magic Mushroom Grow Kit only needs light for the mycelium to ‘understand’ it has reached the surface. Only then, mushrooms will grow. A few hours of fluorescent/artificial light or indirect sunlight a day is more than enough. Direct sunlight kills the mycelium, so avoid the sun to shine directly on the grow kit.
Water / Misting
The day after you start the process you begin with misting. Open the grow bag by removing the reusable yellow seal. Do not spray directly on the cake but spray one time against every side of the bag. So you mist once a day, four sprays. Misting also vents fresh oxygen inside the bag. Right after misting, close the bag again with the reusable yellow seal.
Mushrooms
If the conditions are optimal, you can expect the first small mushrooms (the pins) to appear between 5 and 16 days. This also depends on the strain. Some cubensis strains grow slower than others.
Flushes
The mushrooms come up in groups. This can be a small or large group. That depends on the strain. A growth like this is called a flush. Mushrooms are almost never ripe at the same time. You can get more than one flush out of a kit. The first two flushes are the largest. When more flushes come, they will be smaller than the previous one.
Picking
Mushrooms are ripe and should be picked when the veil between the hat and the stem has just torn. Don’t wait much longer. Use surgical gloves or disinfect your hands, wrists and arms. Pick the mushrooms that are ripe and let the others continue to grow. Remove the mushrooms from the cake by taking hold of the base of the mushroom between thumb and index finger. Rotating your hand clockwise slowly, until the mushroom lets go. Do not pull out the mushrooms. This would risk damaging the mycelium and killing it. When most of the larger mushrooms have been picked, also pick the smaller ones and the pins as well.
Mushrooms that grow from the sides
Mushrooms grow where the light reaches and where there is little penetrating resistance. Because the cake has light shining on the sides, the mushrooms might also grow there. It is hard to counter this and can be allowed. Some growers wrap the sides of the grow box in aluminum foil to keep the sides dark, but this doesn’t always work well.
When mushrooms grow there, they can be picked just before you soak the kit:
Clean hands! Take the grow box out of the bag and place it upside down on your other hand. Wiggle the plastic box so that the cake will fall out, onto your hand. The plastic box can be placed on a disinfectant surface. Now you have this hand free to pick the mushrooms from the sides of the cake. When all mushrooms are picked, you can place the cake back as it was, in the plastic box and continue to the soaking process.
Soaking
After all the mushrooms have been picked, you prepare the kit for the next flush. Again, with disinfected hands or gloves; take the grow box out of the grow bag. Fill the box with fresh, potable water. Take the lid out of the ziploc bag and use it to close the grow box. Place the closed grow box in a soaking Bag or use your own clean plastic shopping bag and wrap it around the box. Close it well and place this in a refrigerator (2°C to 8°C) for 12 hours. This is called the soaking process. Water will now soak through the cake, preparing it for the next flush.
During the soaking you can hang the grow bag with micronfilter upside down to dry. Make sure to hang it upside down, so no microorganisms will access the bag. Many growers prefer to use new and unused grow bags after every flush.
After 12 hours take the soaking Bag with the grow box, out from the fridge and unpack it.
Next Flush
To continue, follow the same steps 3 – 7 as before when you started the process for the first time. Several days later, a new flush will appear. You can get at least 2 or 3 flushes out of a Psilocybe cubensis 'McKennaii' Magic mushroom grow kit. If you are experienced in cultivating, you can get more flushes out of a kit.
The end
When no more mushrooms grow out of a grow kit after the second flush for at least three weeks, or when the Psilocybe cubensis 'McKennaii' Magic Mushroom grow kit turns green, red, grey or yellow; the grow kit can be disposed of. The change in color is a sign that the grow kit is contaminated with another fungus or bacteria. No more mushrooms will grow out of the Psilocybe cubensis 'McKennaii' Magic mushroom grow kit and the grow kit should be thrown away in the garbage outside.
Spores
When you are too late picking the mushrooms, they will drop their spores. The cake and the mushrooms will turn black/purple (some other cubensis strains red/brown) because of the spores. This is not really a problem; it just doesn’t look very pretty. When mushrooms release their spores, they also start to degrade, and the active ingredients are breaking down. Mushrooms will lose some of their potency.

Ich war sehr zufrieden. Dies war meine 2. Bestellung für ein Growkit. Vorher hatte ich mir über eine andere Seite eine für Columbian Mushrooms bestellt. Die Mc Kennaii hier sind aber viel größer gewachsen (12-13 cm große Pilze keine Seltenheit, die anderen nur maximal 8 cm) und habe auch 2-3 Flushys mehr aus der Crowbox rausgeholt. Die Trips waren auch intensiver. Mit netten Freunden/Familienmitgliedern, guter Laune und gutem Reggae, Psydub, Plychill Musik absolut zu empfehlen. ^^Rating
Bitte beim nächsten Mal darauf achten, zwei von den schönen, praktischen Plastikklammern mitzuliefern, war leider nur eine in der Box.

I followed the instructions given and we've created a constant desired temperature. 1st batch we harvested 5 mushrooms as after these 5 nothing more came after a few more days...Rating
Its been 6 days since the next soaking and nothing more has come through just yet.
We are first timers, some more guidance if not by yourselves but to somewhere where we can find out more information on growing, harvesting, drying etc is needed!!!

I've also never cultivated myself and made quite a few mistakes at first by confusing SupaGro with the standard package, but thanks to the brilliant help of the magic team, I got them to flush trice. I am currently on about five grams dried. It's ok, but nothing big, I honestly expected more. I know cubes aren't liberty cabs, which is what I am used to, but still...

BUT with regards to this strain growth instructions I am very disappointed (and it's the only reason why I've decided to post a review for the first time).
Guys from Magic Mushroom Shop: COME ON you know better than this. Why change growth instructions for this strain, when you know perfectly that they should have been the same as any other strain's? It's unacceptable that you recommend growth instructions to your clients that you KNOW will lead to way poorer flushes and even promote mycelium contamination or death. I don't know if this is motivated by an intention of increasing growkits sales ("the less shrooms the kits yield, the sooner the client will have to buy again) or if it's simply a mistake, but if it's been done on purpose, it would be disloyal and inappropriate of you.
People out there: forget about this strain's instructions: mist 2-3 times a day, four sprays (NOT once a day) and fan/vent fresh air into the bag 1-2 times a day (NOT zero times a day!).
For following their instructions I got my poorest 1st flush ever, and it took me time and dedication to "revive" the mycelium to achieve an acceptable total harvest: 529gr -yeah, it sounds like a lot, but I normally achieve 650gr with other kits. I'm an intermediate-level grower.
As per these McKennaii shrooms, my opinion is:
POTENCY: 3 out of 5.
KICK-IN TIME: quite long, about 50-70min after you've consumed them. And about 100-120min for the beginning of the peak.
EFFECTS DURATION: 2hrs; with an easy, much appreciated and fairly quick 45-60min wash-out period. Zero hangover.
EFFECTS TYPE: less visual than most other strains, but very prone to give you incredible, positive mood and great inspiration.
As an extra positive, there's the fact that these shrooms will give you less "wanting to go to bed" than any other; you could almost say they activate you!

The first box i ordered was great, really easy to cultivate big flushes and extremely potent, they looked really pale, but the second box i ordered was really bad... got only 260g fresh in 4 flushes and they looked like golden teacher and the potency was really really weak...i guess it was just a mistake, if it wasn't for that second flush i would rate 5 stars. This was not my first box (actually the 4th), but the first one of this particular strain. Haven't been going on a trip yet, but the growing was as easy as before. I have noticed that every box needs its own about of time till something is going on. Some boxes start producing mushrooms right away (like this one) and others need ages (up to 15-20 days!), even though the surroundings (light, temperature etc.) are constant. Ich habe zusammen mit einem Freund 1,5g jeder gegessen und es nicht bereut. Diese Pilze haben mir den Beweis geliefert, dass wir in der Matrix leben. Ich war in einer Kuppel, die Wolken im Himmel waren nur wenige Meter entfernt. Alles hat sich gewürfelt, Farben haben sich gespalten. Die Umgebung kam näher und ging wieder weg, die Muster flossen, die Natur lebte noch mehr als je zuvor. Ich bin gelaufen und alles zog an mir vorbei und verwischte. Blieb ich stehen und fixierte einen Punkt (im Sitzen) zog es mir in eine andere Dimension. Je länger ich ruhig saß, desto intensiver und besser wurde es, auf einmal war das zuvor betrachtete ganz anders, ich kam zu neuen Erkenntnissen. Es war genau richtig, kein deut zu wenig, kein deut zu viel. Am nächsten morgen grillten wir über der Glut, welche zuvor ein wahres Feuerwerk war. Die Vögel zwitscherten am Morgen, und ich konnte sie verstehen, sie sprachen unter sich, doch ich nahm ihre Stimmung war, eine Vogelmutter erzählte ihren Kindern sogar einen Witz. after 9 months of psilocybin diet i finally came back home. i am an experienced tripper and i took about 7 gr of this divine thing (it was not that easy to grow, but any second waited worth). impossible however to describe any insight, but i guarantee anybody: it has been defintely my best trip ever: the substance talked loudly and showed anything of the universal fractals we went through. honoured and thankful forever. Hatte mir die Box vor einem Jahr bestellt. Nach 3 Wochen erster Flush. Konnte sie drei mal FlushenRating
1. Flush 21g trocken
2. Flush 10g trocken
3. Flush 9g trocken
Habs dann auch zum ersten mal gegessen gleich mal 5g probiert(trocken) hatte sehr geilen Lachflash hab mich nicht mehr eingekriegt habe dann Nebel gesehen und die Fliesen meiner Küche haben grün geleuchtet. Am Tag darauf 5,5g ,der Trip hat sich mehr in meinem Kopf abgespielt ich habe mit verstorbenen geredet und bin in Afrika auf Elefanten geritten. Alles wahr irgentwie logisch und ich habe den Sinn der Welt verstanden Gott gesehen und so sachen. Aber ich hatte immer ein sehr gutes Gefühl dabei habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt.
