It wad my first experience with growing mushrooms and this kit made it quite simple. The mat was useful as the temperatures where below zero at the time I started with the kit. I used the heat mat 24/7, making sure there's breathing room on top and bottom (used fish grill basket). It took about two weeks for the pins to show up and then 4-5 days until harvest. Got about 150g fresh/15g dried from the first flush and now after the cold shock I'm on to the next, hopefully I can get a bit more. (Posted on 2/24/2023)

I would recommend this to anyone who is thinking about starting cultivating medicinal mushrooms in their home and doesn't have proper requirements for them to grow. I got 2 flushes out of it but that was due to a mistake of mine for leaving the mushrooms too long in the kit.
I got 16g of dried Golden Teacher that had a really pleasant effect (although kinda weak for my taste) and am still waiting to see how much i will get from the second flush.
Would also like to point out that the spray bottle won't be a necessity to you if u don't switch to Mondo kits (which is a little odd but i was about to switch to Mondo anyways.
I am very pleased with the product and can't wait for my B+ to arrive :D (Posted on 1/7/2022)

Overall, very happy. Have since re-ordered 3 more kits.

Overview:
Kit arrived quickly (Germany). All equipment as described and in perfect condition.

Grow kit (Columbian) delivered its first full flush in only 10 days. Without knowing the fresh weight of the flush, I can say that I perceived it to be a lot.

Mushrooms extremely enjoyable. Quite potent at even very small doses, but with very little visuals (as described for this strain).

I managed to get 2 flushes only. I put this down to a lot of side-growing mushrooms that led to breaching of the mycelium when removing and potential mismanagement of the humidity within the grow-bag during the second flush.

I would strongly recommend the heat pad that comes with this kit, as it assures you will see results as/when expected. I have noticed, however, that it seems to be running a little hot now that I have been using it for a while -but I cannot be certain whether this is so.

Overall, if you're looking to start growing mushrooms, get the kit. It sets you up for success and will ensure that you are not disappointed with the results you see vs your expectations.

It could also be argued that you can obtain the masks, gloves and rubbing alcohol elsewhere, however I bought this kit during the height of the COVID19 peak when these were in short supply.

I was a bit dubious because it was my first time buying a grow kit and growing magic mushrooms, but the process was very easy and there's a wealth of information in their website.

There was a slight delay with the delivery of the parcel which made me a bit anxious since again, first time buying shrooms online and from a different country, but I talked to their staff and they were very reassuring and understanding, which was much appreciated. I recommend paying a bit more to have UPS deliver it if you're in a hurry though.

The growkit arrived in perfect (and discreet) conditions and in just 11 days I harvested my first crop of Golden Teachers. During this process I emailed magic-mushrooms-shop.com and they were very helpful in guiding me and solving my doubts and answering my questions.

I was surprised by the amount of mushrooms I harvested since I didn't expect so many to grow. I don't have a scale yet, but I counted 24 big size mushrooms, and 20 medium and small ones. I didn't know growkits yielded so many mushrooms, so that was a pleasant surprised since I expected much less.

I'm currently drying them and have already started doing my second flush.

I haven't properly tried them yet, I'm waiting until next weekend to take a trip, although my main purpose for this is to micro-dose, but I also want to experience just one time what macro-dosing is like. I will try to update or write a new review then.

About the heating mat that came with the growkit, it was just a perfectly normal heating pad, it measures 16x13cm. It's best to follow the instructions to a T, since if you put the growkit directly over the heating pad it can reach up to 28 degrees Celsius, which could damage the shrooms. So as indicated in their site, you should make sure there's airflow between the container and the heating pad, using a microwave grid, jar lids or any other makeshift solution. Otherwise it works perfectly fine. I did stop using it after about 4 days because there was a heat wave here so it wasn't needed any longer. I also rotated the grow kit once a day, so both sides of the cake would get enough sunlight.


I didn't use my misting bottle and didn't water the cake at all during the process, there was a bit of condensation that formed inside the bag and I guess that was enough. I’m using the misting bottle for my house plants though and I must say it’s the best misting bottle I’ve had so far. Very happy with it.

As for the gloves (3 units), mask (1 unit)and sanitizer gel (1 unit), they came in very handy, but I recommend buying an entire box of gloves and a bunch of masks -I bought them very cheap in a local pharmacy- because you'll be needing to change gloves every time you touch the container, the bag etc. At least that's what I did, washed my hands and arms, used sanitizer gel on my hands and arms, disinfected -using alcohol- any surface that would be touching the growkit, bag etc, and used new gloves and a new mask every single time I touched anything.

So to wrap it up, if there's anyone out here like me reading this review, and it's your first time buying a grow kit and feel a bit dubious about it, just go for it. The process was very fast and easy, the instructions very easy to follow, there's a lot of information here on how to grow them and if you have questions, you have the staff members a click away. Again, extra props to them for their excellent customer service, it makes all the difference.

Oh and special mention to the caramel Stroopwafel they sent in the parcel! As someone who had never tried a waffle before in her entire live I can say it was one of the most delicious treats I've ever eaten.

Great all round kit, buy without hesitation. Delivered as promised in very discreet packaging, and produced about 27g dry from first flush in about 11 days.

Beware, I found the heating mat to be much too harsh, seeming to raise the temp far too high (the box felt hot to the touch and it gave off an odour). I corrected this by using a mini-tower of jar lids between box and mat and using a probe thermometer brought the temp to sensible level. However, for a while I was really worried I'd killed the mycelium.

For the second and third flushes I ditched the mat and grow bag and instead used a plastic storage box with lid open an inch and based with damp perlite. This box was heated by a second box below containing a submerged aquarium heater. Everything seemed much better with this arrangement.

However despite this I'm still delighted with the kit. It has enabled me to resume my psychedelic journey following a 33 year break.

My first time growing myself and everything went splendid. Just following the instructions on the page and my first harvest was enormous! Second one less so and only from the sides and I'm now trying to see if I can get something out of the bottom by turning it upside down. But it doesn't matter since the first harvest gave me more than enough to be more than pleased with the product and a second and third harvest only would had been icing on the cake. Convenient starter set Review by Martin

I bought this to make things easier for myself. It's been quite hot here for the past few weeks (Holland), and so I didn't need the heating pad. It's useful to have though for when it gets colder and I want to grow. The mushrooms themselves were very slow to grow due to the high heat (around 29 degrees Celsius in my house). I didn't mind the wait, it happened in perfect timing. The mushrooms themselves, Mazatapec, were friendly and healing, used with respectful healing intention. True medicine. They are healing when used with respect.

The sprayer works excellently if you keep it upright. I didn't use the gloves or mouth cover, and had no contamination problems, because the Freshmushroom kits have strong/well-developed mycelium (the white stuff) so they are very resistant to contamination. This is perfect for beginners as it's very forgiving. Apparently this is true for the Supagro kits too, but I haven't experienced those yet properly yet. I received a Supagro sample but it had weak mycelium and unfortunately became contaminated, so I had to throw it out, but I'm guessing if I order a Supagro kit it will be well developed too (which I've already added to my next order).

Along with this starter set I also added some alcohol swabs to clean small surfaces, and I'm about to order more grow kits and will add a surface disinfectant spray to my order. (which I recommend adding if you're ordering this set and don't have anything around the house to disinfect surfaces with. I'm going to use it to clean the surface of the fridge tray for example, during soaking), along with a soaking bag. If your fridge needs some cleaning then the spray or soaking bag could be good ideas. With the Freshmushroom kit I simply used the alcohol swipes though for the fridge tray and placed it on some kitchen paper in the fridge, along with clean hands, and as mentioned I had no contamination issues. Since I'm ordering more grow kits including a "Standard" XL grow kit (which may have less-developed mycelium initially), the mush bag and cleaning spray is probably a good idea. But not essential for this starter kit or Freshmushrooms in my experience. Just make sure your hands are very clean and don't breath directly onto the kit.

What I additionally appreciate is the service here - any questions I had, even beginner's questions not listed in the faq (such as whether I could use dutch tap water for the soaking, which is a yes by the way), were quickly and helpfully answered, and the shipping was quick. I think it's a good store, that sells healing medicine, for which I am very grateful. I'm so grateful to have access to this stuff. I really appreciate the store and feel I'll be a regular customer for a long time. Thanks guys. I'm gonna go order now!
