Psilocybe Cubensis Spore Vials – The Smarter Choice for Microscopy
Spore vials are the professional upgrade from plastic syringes. Glass stays sterile longer, spores don't stick to the walls, and one vial loads multiple syringes without ever breaking the seal. Store them in your fridge for up to 2 years — and they'll be ready whenever you are.

Why Spore Vials Beat Syringes
Spore syringes have been around forever — and they work. But they come with real limitations that trip people up. Here's what changes when you switch to glass vials:
- Up to 2 years shelf life — a plastic syringe gives you 6–12 months at best. A sealed glass vial keeps your spores viable for up to 24 months in the fridge.
- No static electricity problem — plastic builds up a static charge over time, causing spores to cling to the inner walls. In glass, every spore stays in suspension where it belongs.
- Consistent spore density — spores distribute more evenly in glass, so every draw gives you a reliable, high-quality dose of viable material.
- Multi-use without contamination risk — the rubber septum reseals every time. Load a fresh syringe on Monday, another on Friday, and the rest of the vial stays completely sterile in between.
- Safer hermetic seal — a glass vial with a rubber stopper is simply more airtight than a plastic syringe cap. What's inside stays inside.
- Ships without a syringe — vials don't need an attached syringe to ship safely. Packaging stays compact and discreet, and you can reuse syringes you already have.
- Fridge-friendly size — a small glass vial tucks neatly into your cooler. No bent needles, no awkward shapes taking up space.
- Chemically inert glass — unlike plastic, glass doesn't degrade or leach into your spore solution over time. What goes in stays pure.
How to Use a Spore Vial
- Shake the vial firmly to evenly distribute the spores.
- Wipe the rubber septum with an alcohol swab.
- Insert a sterile syringe needle through the septum and draw up the amount you need.
- Use the syringe for microscopy or inoculation — then reseal and return the vial to the fridge.
Store between 2–8°C. Don't freeze — that damages the spores. Keep upright and sealed and your vial will stay viable for months.
Which Cubensis Strain Should You Pick?
All vials in this category contain Psilocybe cubensis — the most studied species for microscopy research. Each strain has its own visual characteristics: spore density, mycelium growth patterns, and coloration all differ under the microscope. New to strain comparison? Start with a classic like Golden Teacher or B+. Looking for something with distinct morphology? McKennaii or PES Amazonian are popular choices for more experienced researchers.
Want More Than One Strain?
Check out our Spore Packs — available with 3 or 5 vials at a reduced price. A great way to build a reference collection, compare strains side by side, or simply stock up without paying full price per vial.
From Spore Vial to Liquid Culture
Spore vials are the ideal starting point for making your own liquid cultures. Transfer a small amount of spore solution into a sterile nutrient broth, let the mycelium establish, and you've got a fast-colonising liquid culture ready for inoculation. It's the logical next step for anyone taking their mycology work further. Prefer to skip that step? We also sell ready-made liquid cultures directly.
Shipping & Storage Info
We ship from Amsterdam. Vials are packaged upright and stable — no syringe required, so packaging is compact and discreet. Spores contain no psilocybin or other active compounds and are legal to ship within the EU for microscopy and research purposes.
