    The Gills of the Mushroom

    The mycological term for Gills is Lamellae ( Lamella singular) . The gills of the magic mushrooms are located underneath the cap. They are  soft, thin, flexible and blade-shaped, like a lamella.  The gills of the P. cubensis are close at the rim of the cap and slightly get broader to the stipe.

    The function of gills are spore disposal. Because of the gilled structure the the mushroom increases the surface and can hold millions of spores.  The gills have the ability to rotate and can adjust them selves parallel with gravity.

    Ergine is also know as LSA, d-lysergamide, and LA-111. LSA stands for d-lysergic acid amide and is the chemical name of Ergine. It is an alkaloid that can cause a psychedelic effect.
