I used the mat with one of my two golden teacher kits. By mistake, I watered them before the first grow.

I only read later that SupaGrow do not encourage heating mats (on their homepage). My temperature gets below 20 during the nights. So I had one kit on the mat. For the first one or two days, the mat sat directly on my window-bench (stone) with the heating below. Then, from day 2 or 3 with a space (cup) between bench & mat (air should be able to circulate under tha mat, as I learned).

The kit w/o mat grew faster and yielded more mushrooms, The kit on the mat grew fewer mushrooms later, a lot of free spots - the wet weight was the same in both kits, though..

(I harvested the whole kits as soon as the first hats opened - one 1 or 2 days to late, the other just perfect).

Maybe the "cold stress" contributed to the faster fruiting of the first (non-heated) kit?
