But the use Damiana has been mostly known for is as an aphrodisiac, a sexual potency booster by the Maya Indians.  It was and it is still used for both male and female sexual stimulation.

James Duke, Ph.D in his Handbook on Medicinal Herbs (1985) stated: ''Damiana makes every nerve tingle with sexual sensation, whetting the appetite of lustful desire''.    Damiana increases blood flow and sensation to the clitoris and penis and helps bring back the natural sexual desire, especially if you are stressed.

Damiana is also used to treat headache, bedwetting, depression, nervous stomach, and constipation and as a general tonic to improve wellness.  Consumption of large doses can have a mild laxative effect.

Maca root is revered and grown for its nutritional and health benefits.   It is a root vegetable with a leafy herbaceous top, very similar to the radish or turnip, the main difference being that it only grows in high altitude (2000m to 5000m).  Once it is harvested it is dried.  In Peru it is prepared and consumed in a variety of manners, cooked being the most common.

The Incas had such reverence for it's amazing powers, that only royalty where allowed to consume it.  The plant is native to the high Andes of Peru.  It is considered one of the ''lost crops of the Andes'' and it is also known as peruvian Ginseng.   It was used as currency by the Incas and it was pivotal in their within their medicinal knowledge.

There is even a beer made with Maca by the Andean Brewing Company

Maca as an aphrodisiac

Just like Damiana, Maca enhances the sexual experience for both men and and women.

Because it is loaded with minerals like zinc, iodine, and essential fatty acids, maca may balance sex hormones and improve mood, and we all know that when healthy mood and balanced hormones levels are in the same equation, arousal can be reached much easier.

In a more precise way, in women it  increases libido, energy and the sensation in the area around the clitoris and in men it also increases libido, energy, stamina and endurance while helping with erectile dysfunction.

In regards to Men fertility, there is some evidence that Maca root increases men's fertility and improve semen quality

ginkgo biloba plant

Ginkgo biloba is usually called ginkgo or gingko is a tree (ginkgo tree) that is native to China, some say it is the oldest living tree species - the tree can live up to 1,000 years.

It has a variety of uses in traditional chinese medicine and as a source of food.   The leaf is used as a dietary supplement and the nuts are used in traditional Chinese food.

Two components (flavonoids and tepernoids) account for Ginkgo biloba benefits for human health. Flavonoids are antioxidants, and studies have demonstrated that flavonoids protect the nerves, heart muscle, blood vessels, and retina from damage. Terpenoids helps blood flow by dilating the blood vessels and reducing the stickiness of platelets.

Ginkgo as an Aphrodisiac

In regards to the benefits to male sexuality, a study done with 50 men with erectile impotency revealed that after taking Ginkgo biloba, only 11 remained impotent.

According to some studies, ginkgo biloba could also help in regards enhancing the psychology of sex.  How?  by easing stress, mild depression and anxiety. It is obvious that if a person is marred by tensions or performance anxiety while having sex, there is no way he will enjoy sex. By lowering sex-related inhibitions and soothing performance anxiety, ginkgo biloba extract may help in creating the right mood for sexual pleasure.
