Amazonian genetics refined by one of the great spore houses
PES Amazonian is a selection from Pacifica Exotic Spores (PES), descended from a wild specimen collected in the Amazon basin. PES was one of the most respected spore suppliers of the early cultivation era, known for rigorous selection and strain integrity. Their Amazonian selection became a flagship product — combining the vigour and large-fruit genetics of true Amazon-basin cubensis with the stability of repeated cultivation selection. The result is a strain that has remained relevant across multiple decades of home cultivation.
Large, vigorous fruits with deep amber caps
PES Amazonian produces substantial fruit bodies with caramel to deep golden-brown caps that are broad and fleshy at maturity. Stems are thick, long, and white, developing a strong blue bruise when handled. The mycelium colonises densely and visibly vigorously — a characteristic often cited by growers as a reliable indicator of the strain’s robust genetics. Spore prints are the deep purple-brown standard of Psilocybe cubensis.
A producer’s strain with a strong potency reputation
PES Amazonian is frequently placed by community members in the higher tier of cubensis varieties for both yield and reported intensity. These are anecdotal assessments — PES itself built its reputation on stable, consistent stock rather than dramatic marketing claims, and the strain’s standing in the community reflects genuine grower experience rather than hype. Conditions, substrate, and harvest timing remain the primary variables as with any cubensis.
Fast-colonising and abundantly productive
PES Amazonian colonises fast on grain and bulk substrates, with full colonisation typically completing within 10–14 days on grain. Fruiting initiates readily at 23–26 °C with adequate humidity and fresh air exchange. Yields are high — the strain flushes abundantly and maintains productivity across three or more flushes. It performs particularly well on manure-based mixes and enriched bulk substrates that allow its Amazonian genetics full expression.
